Hot Trends Singapore allows users to see a daily list of the fastest-rising search queries based on aggregated data from millions of searches done on Google in Singapore. The list is updated hourly throughout the day, while users can also change the date to see what the top-rising searches were and what the search activity looked like over the course of that day.

When users click on a particular Hot Trends result, they can see a daily search volume graph plus any associated Google News™ stories, blog searches and Google web search results, giving users greater context into what people in Singapore were searching for in connection with that term on that day.

For example, be updated and keep the conversation flowing by referring to 23 April’s fastest-rising search queries on Google in Singapore:

As seen above, local users’ concerns for 23 April, Wednesday are mostly related to local and regional current affairs.

Let’s take a look at our #1 Hot Trend: “JP Morgan Run”. The search activity for the JP Morgan Run which took place yesterday at 6pm was high throughout the work day, steadily rising from 7am onwards and finally reaching its peak at 5pm, as showcased by the search volume graph below.

There is still a lot of local interest in the Mas Selamat saga, as seen from the #9 “Mas Selamat”, #10 “Wong Kan Seng” (DPM of Singapore) and #19 “Pang Kin Keong” (Director of ISD) Hot Trends.

#21 on the list is a cryptic term “nareepol”. The associated blog posts and web search results showed that nareepol is actually the name of a particular tree in Petchaboon, Thailand which bears fruits shaped like a woman. Mystery solved!

Other Hot Trends yesterday included #15 “liverpool vs chelsea”, #31 “secretaries week” and #33 “hfmd”, reflecting the wide variety of daily hot topics in Singaporean society ranging from sports events to office affairs to family health.
